Staff Training

Staff Training

Our Envirowash staff focuses on continuing our training for technicians on a bi-weekly basis on our path of continuing education for all employees. We do this to constantly serve our customers with highly trained professionals, provide our staff leadership/mentoring opportunities, and perfect our craft.

Safety Meetings at Envirowash are more than just a safety topic and test. Each meeting we discuss current ways to improve our craft, issues in the field to correct and look for repair on all our trucks/trailers.

Some of our continuing education topics

Safety: Weekly safety meetings, safety training for the construction industry including preventing accidents, ladder safety, material handling, power tool handling, preventing falls, protecting your hearing, work zone safety, PPE, and more

Skillsets/Specialties: Every technician has a knowledge of Envirowash practices as well as growing their specific specialties and skillsets. Technicians learn techniques for various washing disciplines from which equipment is best for cleaning various surfaces. Choosing the correct tip sizes and washing process for brick varies from a 1920's stucco house. Many more examples but there is always more to learn.

Surface Preparation: Envirowash specializes in washing techniques and surface preparation for exterior painting, and sealing projects. Proper surface adhesion is crucial to provide the best lasting product for painting projects.

Painting and Coatings: Many of our projects we wash and seal aggregate driveways, paver patios, natural stone, concrete and other surfaces. We continue to collaborate with industry professionals on what size and type rollers or brushes to use, which brand of sprayers, and best procedure/process to use for new products.

Soft-Wash Techniques: Soft wash, heated water pressure washing can clean more effectively than higher pressure or cold pressure washing processes. Water volume can also play a part in your cleanliness or your surface.

Cleaning Solution Combinations (cleaning chemistry): Being able to adjust on site is a major factor in choosing your cleaning contractor. Envirowash technicians are trained in cleaning ratio's and the strength of cleaning products to be able to start with a diluted amount and slowly increase the ratio as needed for your project.

Reclamation Practices: Reclamation and retrieval for wash water is a critical part to many projects. Envirowash has a state of the art reclamation trailer designed for this type of work. Technicians are trained on using the trailer machines, pumps, and hoses to properly wash, contain, and reclaim wash water from sensitive job sites. Job sites with drains leading to our creeks, rivers, and other drinking water bodies of water need to be reclaimed.

Restoration: Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg and Virginia Beach are all historic cities with unique commercial buildings in their downtowns and of course historic residential properties. Envirowash technicians are trained how to remove many of these aged staining on the exterior of these properties. Carbon staining, encrustation, iron staining and more can be removed with the proper products, experience, and knowledge.

Hardscape Techniques: Envirowash technicians are ICPI certified and continue to work on improved ways to maintain hardscapes after installation. We often test out new sands, grouting, and sealants to be able to recommend the highest quality products to our customers.

Encapsulation: Crawl space encapsulation is a winter project for our crews. As we don't do this on a regular basis our crews are skilled and knowledgeable to install encapsulation during the winter months of Nov-Feb for our customers.
